About Burnaby Community Services

Founded in 1971, Burnaby Community Services is a charitable society providing a voice, resources and opportunities to people who need support. We believe change can only happen when people are empowered to improve their lives and their community. Currently, we offer a range of programs and publications to support families with low income and seniors experiencing isolation.

Last year, our team provided support over 130,000 times to people in need. In addition, we have developed new, innovative approaches to breaking the cycles of poverty and isolation, continuously helping make Burnaby a better place to live, work, and play.

Through the Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk in Burnaby , vital funds will be raised for our outreach and advocacy work, including the printing and distribution of our Community Outreach Cards, Community Volunteer Income Tax Program & Form Completion Assistance Programs, and providing hampers to unique individuals (who are homeless or at risk of) during Christmas.

About Society To End Homelessness In Burnaby

The Society to End Homelessness in Burnaby offers support through an innovative anti-stigma approach to tackling homelessness by providing a single point of access to wraparound services which includes not only providing meals and showers, but also addressing the root causes through education and advocacy.

Our Outreach offers a weekly One-Stop-Shop drop-in Outreach Resource Centres (ORCs) where guests have opportunities to meet housing outreach workers and social services with access to government assistance and referral, advocacy, medical attention, foot care, hygiene and toiletries, clothing, a hot shower and nutritious hot meals.

Additionally we also operate the Extreme Weather Heat Response in Burnaby during the Summer season when extreme heat events occur.

Beyond these much-needed services, we also raise awareness about the issue of homelessness, fostering empathy and understanding within our community.
