It's cold out there. The Coldest Night of the Year is a covid-safe, family-friendly walk to raise money for charities serving people experiencing homelessness, hurt, and hunger. Walk with us #UnitedApart on February 20-28 2021 – there’s a place for everyone!

Stratford (Stratford/Perth Shelter Link & UNF Initiative Stratford) is super grateful for our fantastic 2021 sponsors! View all sponsors >

About Stratford/Perth Shelter Link

Stratford/Perth Shelterlink provides Perth County youth ages 16-24, who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, with shelter, basic needs, support, community aid and advocacy services. For more information visit shelterlink.org or call 519-272-2294.

In September of 2020, 107 individuals identified themselves as experiencing homelessness in Stratford, St. Marys and Perth County, with 97 of those experiencing chronic homelessness. Given that it’s estimated 80 per cent of homelessness is hidden, many more local people are likely facing this issue on a daily basis.

February 20th-28th, we will be hosting and participating in The Coldest Night of The Year which is a 2k or 5k walk of your choice. Please join us by putting in a team, collecting pledges and walking with us.

This will be a fun event for families, work teams, sports teams, youth groups, church groups, corporations, businesses and other not-for-profits.

Let's show Perth County's homeless youth our warmth!

About UNF Initiative Stratford

United Way Perth-Huron (UWPH) invites you to walk with us on February 20th, 2021 to help the homeless, the hungry and the hurting. Walk to support the Urgent Needs Fund (UNF) supporting families and individuals who are living paycheque to paycheque with little to no buffer against life’s challenges. They’re some of our most resilient community members, but one emergency can create a crisis that’s hard to recover from.

Walk to support our youth through early intervention counselling, counselling for youth who witness domestic violence and community support for youth who are homeless.

Virtual CNOY Day

This is your own self-organized micro-walk! Virtual CNOY Day should feel pretty familiar once you get walking - here are some key things you'll need to do on February 20 (or whatever day in February you decide to walk):

  • Gather with your covid-safe bubble (or on your own)
  • Map out a safe 2-5 km route
  • Let someone know where you are
  • Bring a cell phone in case of emergency
  • Share online as you go! #cnoy21
  • Keep fundraising (half of all fundraising happens in the last week!)
  • Be safe and have fun!
