It's cold out there. The Coldest Night of the Year is a covid-safe, family-friendly walk to raise money for charities serving people experiencing homelessness, hurt, and hunger. Walk with us (virtually) on February 20, 2021 – there’s a place for everyone!

She arrived to our Transitional Housing Support Program having just been released from prison. She was struggling with a drug addiction, lacking in self-confidence and believing that she would never escape the vicious cycle of poverty, homelessness and violence that had become her life. She did escape. In the year that she was with us, she began her recovery from her addiction, became gainfully employed, passed her Driver’s test, bought a reliable vehicle, enrolled in college in a non-traditional course for women (welding) and continues to thrive. We are proud of her- we are proud of our services and programs that assisted her in her success!
Safe ‘n Sound provides a vital service to our community – Grey County, Bruce County and the town of Owen Sound. Our services to folks who are currently homeless or at risk of homelessness are recognized by our community as unique and not duplicated by any other organization or service provider in our area.
We are viewed as the “HUB” for other supporting agencies working to end poverty to meet with each other and provide support to the people who attend Safe ‘n Sound. The Space is viewed as the equalizer in terms of what many “clients” perceive as a power imbalance between those seeking services and those providing services. We are a SAFE place for Participants.
We open our doors at 10:00 a.m. and men, women and children are welcome to share The Space with others in need of food, clothing, showers, laundry, foot clinic, haircuts, art program, advocacy, referrals to appropriate helping agencies. All of our services and programs are FREE!
Our work with and for folks who are marginalized and sometimes invisible in our community has championed others to engage in the struggle to support people who live in poverty and suffer the societal consequences of shame, humiliation, hunger and homelessness.
Safe ‘n Sound, with minimal financial and human resources inspires our community to support our fundraising efforts, provide the physical donations of food, clothing and volunteers to sustain our programs and further develop those services that address our Participants needs in an immediate and meaningful way.
Participating in the Bluesea Coldest Night of the Year Fundraising Event invites our friends and neighbours to join Safe ‘n Sound for a day of community consciousness-raising activities, shared camaraderie with a focus of working collectively and inclusively to end poverty, homelessness and hunger in our community and in all of those places we call home.
