The Challenge

Got a big-hearted business, workplace, group, church, or community? Step up and join the Challenge to compete for your local pride in support of CNOY. Check the National Challengeboard to see more!

About Eden Food for Change

Eden has been operating food banks in western Mississauga for over 34 years, and currently provides food access to over 1000 food insecure households and over 3500 individuals monthly, including newcomers to Mississauga. Eden also operates a cooking school for food bank members and a professional culinary training program for individuals wanting to be employed as chefs. Eden’s commercial kitchen produces hot meals for the Meals-on-Wheels program throughout Mississauga and Oakville.

Prior to the pandemic, Eden provided 492,000 pounds of food a year to its members, and its community engagement program provided over 30,000 culturally appropriate meals to households in the city.

However, Currently, the organization is experiencing a surge due to the rise in food costs and overall inflation in the country. With a cumulative increase of over 200% in people accessing Eden's food banks since the pandemic, the charity is expected to have given out over 1.4 million lbs. of food, and over 100,00 lbs. prepared meals to food insecure families in 2023 alone. Of the total individuals served each month by Eden, 40% are kids and youth.

The funds raised in the CNOY event will help to significantly improve the efficiency of the foodbank operations, reach, and overall ability to serve the community better, especially at this time of the year known historically for low levels of giving.
