About United Way City of Kawartha Lakes

Our mission is to build a strong community and improve lives in Haliburton & Kawartha Lakes.

We focus on 3 priority areas:

1) Poverty to Possibility • Moving people out of poverty, meeting the basic needs of our community’s most vulnerable people (food, shelter & employment).

2) All That Kids Can Be • Giving children and youth the support they need to get a great start in life, do well in school, and reach their full potential.

3) Healthy People, Strong Communities • Creating vibrant neighbourhoods, where everyone experiences a sense of belonging and connection to one another.

Our work is two-fold. We provide grants to local organizations working to tackle challenging issues such as food insecurity, homelessness, & mental health. We also operate Edwin Binney’s Community Farm & Education Centre. Through this project we grow, harvest & donate fresh produce to food banks & organizations with food programs. We also provide educational workshops to local schools using curriculum-based learning materials.

Join us on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 for the Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk and TOGETHER we can make a positive impact on the lives of the most vulnerable right here in our community.
