About Helping Hands Society of Cochrane

Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area strengthens community and reduces vulnerability by connecting volunteers to people needing support through innovative programs and collaborative responses.

Our programs are barrier-free and available to anyone struggling without a natural support system.

Through volunteerism, Helping Hands enables residents of Cochrane and Western Rocky View to serve and connect with their neighbours, building a vibrant and resilient community.

Our programs consist of the Free Food Sheds, Harsh Weather Haven, Emergency Meals, Volunteer Drivers, Movers with Heart, Caring Neighbours, Snow Helpers, Summer Do Crew, and Food Rescue.

All of this would not be possible without the generous support from our community. Join us on Saturday, February 28th, 2026 for the Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk and you can make a difference for someone in need right here in our community.

Where Helping Hands Began

Every movement starts with a person who saw a need and chose to act. This short video shares the story of how Helping Hands began, and how one idea grew into a community of care supporting thousands of neighbours each year.
