About Logifem

What would you do if you had nowhere to go? Would you stay out in the cold?

Logifem is committed to providing support and accommodation to vulnerable women and children where they can feel at home to heal and rebuild their lives. Our purpose is to equip and empower women and children to leave the cycle of homelessness and thrive.

For over 35 years Logifem has provided accommodation to women with and without children, experiencing residential instability. We operate two shelters (Maison Benoy and La Lumineuse), 13 transitional apartments, 35 permanent social housing units and offer post-shelter services.

La Lumineuse, one of Logifem's two shelters, is a vital refuge that provides a safe haven for women and their adolescent children. As one of the only shelters in Montreal that accepts teenage children, La Lumineuse plays a crucial role in keeping families together when many other options would force mothers to be separated from their children. On December 3rd, La Lumineuse will celebrate its 3rd anniversary. Since its opening, the shelter has welcomed 40 mothers and 60 children, including 16 teenagers aged 13 and up. The average stay is around six months.

The women who turn to La Lumineuse face a range of overwhelming challenges—financial instability, post-separation violence, and the struggles that come with immigration. Without La Lumineuse, many would be forced to navigate these hardships alone or risk losing custody of their children. By providing personalized support tailored to each family’s unique needs, we help these women and children regain stability, rebuild their lives, and re-establish vital connections to other community resources and organizations.

All funds raised by CNOY 2025 will go directly to La Lumineuse, specifically to provide essential services and support for these women and children. The impact of La Lumineuse is undeniable and your support makes this possible.
