The Coldest Night of the Year is a winterrific family-friendly walk to raise money for local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. Team up, walk, and fundraise! It’s cold out there... but there’s no place like home.
According to The National Youth Homelessness Survey, "Young people aged 13-24 make up about 20% of those experiencing homelessness in Canada.” That is approximately 35,000-40,000 young people a year and 6,000-7,000 who are looking for a safe place to sleep tonight.
Let that sink in for a minute.
I don’t know about you, but this information breaks my heart and beyond that, I find it disturbing. How can this be? What has happened in these young lives that causes them to be without housing?
Central Alberta Youth Unlimited and YU-Turn Youth Housing existed to eliminate just this. The YU-Turn Home is a skill development program for young people ages 16-24 who require, and desire support and encouragement to become holistically healthy, fully independent, community contributors.
You can be a part of this, joining our campaign to raise $35,000 to help move one youth from homeless to home.
